Is DeWalt Better Than Milwaukee?
There is an age-old debate about power tools, and which is the better brand - Milwaukee or DeWalt? Whether you work in construction, mechanics, or simply enjoy your own DIY projects from time to time, we know you’ve probably asked yourself this question many times. Both brands are top, trusted names in the industry due to their durability, and reputation. However, when working with tools, you want to ensure you are using the best.
So, we decided to take the guessing game out of it and put both brands to the test through a bit of research and comparison, so that we could get to the bottom of this tool mystery.
More than just the tools
When purchasing a product, you purchase more than just the product. You are investing in the brand and the overall experience the brand has to offer. Customer experience and offerings like warranty and guarantee are very important, especially when it comes to tools.
Warranty
Contrary to popular belief, most warranties don’t cover damage caused from use. They instead cover any manufacturing faults that may lead to defects with the tools. Both Milwaukee and DeWalt have amazing warranties on their products.
The DeWalt warranty lasts for three years from purchase, and covers defects from faulty materials or workmanship. However, it does not cover wear and tear. If your tool meets the warranty requirements, DeWalt will repair the tool at no cost to you.
Milwaukee’s warranties last a bit longer than DeWalt, at up to five years depending on the tool. As with DeWalt, normal wear and tear from everyday use is not covered. But if your electric power tool needs repairs or replacements as a result of a defect in material or workmanship, it will be covered under the warranty.
Customer Service
Both brands have been in the industry for a very long time, hence naturally, exceptional customer service is expected. They both offer different value added services when it comes to their customer service experience.
Milwaukee has an e-service center that is available for customer concerns, reports or complaints 24/7. This is a major plus as it limits frustrations that come with dealing with unhelpful automated systems or waiting for regular work hours to report an issue to a human. They also provide a 10-day guarantee for all repairs on tools. Once the repairs are finished, they will ship the product directly to your door.
DeWalt has a great online portal that allows you to log in and register tools for repair, or even search for replacement parts. However, their response time is 24 hours or longer, which can mean it will take longer for your issues to be resolved.

When looking for good power tools there are a few things that must make your list: durability, revolutions per minute (RPM), price point, torque, battery life (when applicable), accessories and user-friendliness. With this in mind, we’ve done some comparisons with two of their most popular tools.
